Our Story: Where Healing Meets Heart
Sometimes the best businesses grow from the most personal moments. Our story began not in a boardroom but in a healing space, where trust, wellness, and genuine care intersected in ways I never expected. This is the story of how our CEO, as told by her, discovered and then grew EKS to where it is today.
The Beginning: A Personal Discovery
It all started with friendship and healing. The founders of what would become EKS Wellness were family friends, and one of them was my massage therapist and acupuncturist. During our sessions, she would use a remarkable salve called RISE (now our beloved PAIN relief formula) that seemed to work magic on my tired muscles and persistent aches.
There was something different about this blend; the way it penetrated deeply, the lasting relief, the clean, natural feeling it left behind. I wasn’t the only one who noticed. Client after client in her practice began asking about “that amazing cream” she used during treatments.
From Treatment Room to Market
What started as a practitioner’s secret healing cream began gaining a quiet reputation. Word spread through the wellness community about these extraordinary formulations. The founders realized they had something special: products that people genuinely loved and that delivered tangible results.
My husband and I believed so deeply in what we experienced that we decided to invest in it. These weren’t just products to us; they were solutions that had personally touched our lives. I also stepped in to help directly, eventually becoming CFO in 2021.
By then, SHINE (now our SKIN beauty formula) had even caught the attention of Ontario Cannabis Stores, marking our first major retail success.
A Pivotal Moment
In 2022, we faced a crossroads. We wanted to share these incredible formulations with everyone, not just those who could access cannabis markets. So we made a bold decision: reformulate our products using hemp seed oil (Cannabis Sativa) instead of THC and CBD, opening the door to mainstream wellness.
It wasn’t an easy transition. The cannabis market, despite the quality of our products, proved challenging due to advertising restrictions and limited visibility. We had to choose between staying small and restricted or taking a leap toward broader impact. So we took the cannabis with THC and CBD out, realizing that hemp seed oil was a better choice and still natural.
International Women’s Day: A New Chapter
On March 8th, 2023—International Women’s Day—EKS Wellness was officially born under my sole ownership. It felt symbolic to launch a woman-owned wellness company on a day celebrating women’s strength and independence.
We introduced PAIN and SKIN to the mainstream market with a fresh identity, new website, and renewed mission: to bring the healing power of natural ingredients to everyone seeking genuine relief and radiant skin.
Recognition and Growth
Our breakthrough came when Whole Foods recognized what we’d known all along—that quality, natural wellness products crafted with care and intention deserve a place in people’s daily routines and rituals. In December 2023, our products found themselves on the shelves of Whole Foods, marking our arrival as a trusted mainstream wellness brand. We are now expanding our retail store presence across Canada.
Made in Canada, Made with Purpose
Today, EKS Wellness remains proudly Canadian, rooted in the same principles that drew me to that treatment room years ago: genuine care, natural ingredients, and products that just work. Every jar and tube carries the story of personal discovery, the wisdom of traditional healing, and the innovation of modern wellness science.
We also worked towards and received approval from Health Canada—a significant milestone in our product evolution.
Because the best products aren’t just manufactured; they’re discovered, tested by real people, and born from moments when someone says, “This works. Everyone needs to know about this.”
That’s our story. That’s our promise. That’s why EKS Wellness exists.
